Validation is the official recognition of the academic validity of higher education studies completed abroad, whether or not they ended with the award of a degree, with respect to partial Spanish university studies that allow those studies to be continued at a Spanish university.
The validation of foreign studies for partial Spanish university studies is the responsibility of the Spanish university where the applicant wishes to pursue further studies, in accordance with the criteria established by the University Coordination Council.
The effects of the validation of partial studies are, in general, solely academic, as they allow for continuing studies within the Spanish educational system. These studies may, where appropriate, culminate in the award of the corresponding Spanish university degree, once the applicable curriculum has been completed. This Spanish degree will have all the corresponding effects, without any distinction.
Those who may apply for admission through partial validation of foreign university studies are:
1. They have not completed their official university studies at foreign universities.
2. Having completed their studies, they have not obtained the recognition or equivalence of their degrees, diplomas, or studies in Spain.
In all cases, it will be an essential requirement that a minimum of 30 credits be recognized in accordance with the provisions of the University of La Laguna's Credit Recognition and Transfer Regulations.
If the above requirements are not met, they may only be admitted through the pre-registration procedure.
Students must apply for admission through partial validation of foreign studies through the ULL electronic headquarters, addressed to the person in charge of the center where the degree you wish to study is taught.
In accordance with Article 7 of the Regulation governing electronic administration at the University of La Laguna, all persons participating in this procedure must submit their applications through the ULL electronic office, addressed to the person in charge of the center where the degree they wish to pursue is taught. Applications by other means will not be accepted.
According to the Resolution of May 12, 2023, establishing the delegation of powers and the substitution regime of this University (BOC No. 101, of May 25, 2023), the holders of the Deanships of Faculties and Directors of Schools are responsible for resolving requests for file transfers. Requests will be resolved, by delegation of the rector, by the persons responsible for the deanship or management of the centers.
Applications for admission to foreign university studies will be compatible with the general pre-registration and enrollment procedures, and students may apply for both admission procedures. If a place is obtained through both systems, the place will be allocated through the quota for foreign university studies.
The application must be accompanied by the following documentation:
a) Persons who do not have a DNI or NIE must present a validly issued passport or equivalent identity document.
b) Academic certification of the studies completed, which includes, among other things, the subjects taken, the academic year and the grades.
c) Document of equivalence of average grades certified by the Ministry of Education (Link).
NOTE: In the section “No. of credits or subjects", must indicate what is stated on the official academic certificate provided. If the subjects do not have recognized credits, each subject will be marked with a 1.
d) Curriculum and programs/teaching guides for the subjects taken, duly prepared by the home university, which shall include, among other things, the official duration in academic years of the curriculum followed, the subjects taken and the time load for each of them. The documentation corresponding to the teaching guides must be included in a single pdf file.
e) Application for credit recognition. This will be available during the partial validation of foreign studies procedure.
f) Any other document that is necessary for better understanding of the validation that is intended to be obtained.
All documents submitted to these procedures must be official and issued by the competent authorities, in accordance with the legal system of the country in question, legalized (*) and translated into Spanish (**), where applicable.
(*) Legalization of documents issued abroad.
No legalization is required for documents issued in Member States of the European Union or signatories to the Agreement on the European Economic Area: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Romania and Sweden. Also Switzerland, by bilateral agreement with the EU.
In other cases, documents issued abroad that are to be used in these proceedings must be duly legalized in accordance with the following conditions:
Documents issued by diplomatic or consular authorities of other countries in Spain must be legalized by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Article 15.1 of the Law 39/2015, The Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations of October 1st establishes that the language of procedures processed by the General State Administration will be Spanish. Accordingly, the regulations governing these procedures require that documents issued abroad and used in these procedures be accompanied by an official translation into Spanish (when not issued in that language).
The official translation may be done:
To the extent possible, when the original document is written in a script other than the Western script, it is recommended that the corresponding translation include the title name in its original language, but transcribed into the Western script, rather than a translation of that name.
The calendar can be downloaded here link.
The Governing Council of the ULL will approve for each academic year the offer of places available through this route (check the available places).
The extraordinary call will be available exclusively for those degrees and courses with vacancies after the ordinary call.
For degrees taught at more than one location, places will be assigned to the different locations, with the largest number of places reserved for the location with the lowest grade point average from the previous academic year.
Student applications are based on the admission grade for partial validation of foreign studies, expressed with three decimal places, which will be extracted from the following formula:
N = 0.5*NE + 0.5*CR
Where
N = Admission grade for partial validation of foreign studies.
NE = Average grade of the academic record of the university studies completed.
CR = Number of credits eligible for recognition.
To this end, subjects will be equivalent in points to the grade obtained at the school of origin, in accordance with the equivalencies established by the competent ministry between the grades of said foreign educational systems and those of the Spanish educational system. The recognition of credits for which there is no grade will not be taken into account when calculating the average grade.
