Documentation of title evaluation

Official Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate degrees are subject to an assessment model divided into three phases that make up their life cycle (VSMA cycle): ex ante (Verification), during (Monitoring and Modification) and ex post (renewal of Accreditation). This assessment, review and improvement process is carried out with the aim of guaranteeing the quality of the degrees and ensuring that they comply with the requirements and criteria established within the framework of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

The model is included in the Organic Law 2/2023, of the University System (LOSU) and in the Royal Decrees of regulation of university education: fundamentally the RD 822/2021, which establishes the organization of university education and the procedure for ensuring its quality; RD 99/2011, which regulates official doctoral studies and the RD 640/2021, for the creation, recognition and authorization of universities and university centers, and institutional accreditation of university centers.

The official documentation of the degree evaluation processes that certify compliance with quality standards can be consulted in the following sections.

Verification/ Modification

Follow-up

In line with national guidelines (RD 822/2021), the Canary Islands Agency for University Quality and Educational Evaluation (ACCUEE) has established the Monitoring Protocol that official degrees in the Canary Islands Autonomous Community must follow. This monitoring focuses, on the one hand, on verifying compliance with the project established in the current Verification Report in an initial post-verification monitoring (OTV). On the other hand, it verifies the implementation of the improvement plan developed after an external evaluation process, known as post-accreditation monitoring (OTR).

Accreditation

In line with national guidelines (RD 822/2021), the Canary Islands Agency for University Quality and Educational Evaluation (ACCUEE) has established the Accreditation Renewal Protocol that official degrees in the Canary Islands Autonomous Community must follow. This evaluation focuses, on the one hand, on verifying compliance with and implementation of the project established in the current Verification Report. On the other hand, it verifies the progress of the improvement plan developed after the last external monitoring process. A favorable evaluation of the degree will allow it to remain in the RUCT (National Registry of University Students).
