Regulations for the presentation and reading of theses

Chapter III of Title II of the Regulations for Official Doctoral Studies at the University of La Laguna regulates the procedures for the presentation and defense of the doctoral thesis. It also regulates the requirements that a thesis must meet in order to include on its front the mention of "International Doctorate", the mention of "Industrial Doctorate", the modality of thesis by compendium of publications and the joint supervision regime in the doctoral thesis. The specific aspects of the I3MA doctoral program are detailed below:

  • PhD thesis: At least one JCR publication is required to authorize the defense.
  • Thesis Tribunal: All members, as well as the thesis director, are required to have at least one six-year research experience (or equivalent merits)
  • Thesis by compendium: At least three publications are required, either articles in scientific journals listed in the Journal Citations Reports (JCR) or communications to conferences indexed in the GII-GRIN-SCIE (GGS); or two publications, either articles in a JCR journal in quartiles Q1 or Q2, or communications to GGS Class 1 conferences, and a third publication in a scientific journal indexed in Scopus or communication to a GGS Class 2 or 3 conference. In any case, they must have been published during the doctoral student's training period.
