Use and Management of Cultural Heritage

Arts and Humanities

It is patently clear these days that the field of cultural assets, tourism and cultural leisure is becoming one of the main and soundest economic assets for our immediate future. Cultural Heritage, how it is handled and safeguarded is an innovative area in constant development, demanded time and time again by society and its administrations, who demand specialised studies to fill the existing gaps in safeguarding heritage resources and managing them properly vis-à-vis their use and promotion. It is these resources that have led the University of La Laguna to create a Master’s programme in the Use and Management of Cultural Heritage, to train professionals in an emerging sector with a bright future that requires better training of the people who have to manage the structures, contents and everyday activities of the entities, agencies and institutions, both public and private, who are tasked with caring for, defending and disseminating heritage and cultural assets and services. The syllabus is characterised by an integral, interdisciplinary approach, with a clear professional orientation, in which there is a convergence of seminars, workshops, tasks and projects led by a varied range of teachers with proven quality and experience, and with a period of time devoted to external placements in agencies and institutions of the sector
