  • With the ability to analyse environmental problems arising from interactions between human and natural environments, and to design both preventative and corrective measures aimed at mitigating the negative effects that may result from these interactions
  • With knowledge of the scientific, technical, social, economic and legal aspects of the environment and enable them to address environmental issues with rigour and an interdisciplinary approach, while also taking into account other social and economic concerns of our society

    Specific Skills
    • Understanding of the structure and function of micro-organisms, fungi, plants, animals and bio-molecules, molecular transformation processes constituting cell and processes of transformation of physical systems
    • Describing structure, physicochemical properties and reactivity of elements and compounds involved in biogeochemical cycles
    • Evaluating, interpreting and synthesising geological and meteorological processes
    • Relating properties and soil type lithology, geomorphology, climate, vegetation and surface formation age
    • Knowledge of hydrology, principles and management techniques and soil conservation; environmental economics, ecological economics, technical analysis and quantification of pollution, processes that cause global change and its consequences, the general characteristics and processes of major ecosystems and habitats, basic environmental legislation and environmental costs
    • Characterising different climates
    • Rating air quality and applying techniques for reducing gas emissions; pollution and applying the techniques for recovering the natural environment
    • Water treatment management
    • Design,development and implementation of environmental impact assessments and strategic environmental assessments
    • Developing and implementing environmental management systems and quality management
    • Analysis and evaluation of natural resource management systems
    • Integrated Regional Planning
    • Qualitative and quantitative data interpretation
    • Managing Geographic Information Systems, instrument techniques of analysis and quantification of pollutant dispersion models and pollutant control networks, basic instrumentation in physics, chemistry and biology
    • Developing cartographic bases; cartographically interpret and represent data elements and environmental processes
    • Applying assessment techniques to environmental management of landscapes and land planning and achieving material and energy balances in all kinds of processes and facilities
    • Mastery of the principles and techniques of restoration and rehabilitation of the natural environment
    • Design and implementation of sustainability indicators and ecological footprints
