Recognition and transfer of credits
The Conference of Deans of Fine Arts Faculties, at its meeting on November 15 and 16, 2007 in Barcelona, reached a unanimous agreement to work on the design of 120 common credits that will be automatically recognized in the Fine Arts Graduate study plans.
For its part, the University of La Laguna, in the general guidelines for the design of the Bachelor's Degree, collecting what is established in art. 12.2 of RD 1393, establishes the possibility of including in the offer transversal and/or interdisciplinary subjects that contain common content to the different subjects offered within the same degree or even other degrees belonging to the same branch of knowledge.
It recommends –although it does not require– that 60 ECTS credits be programmed in common with the degrees in the same branch and, in the event that only 36 are chosen –as is the case with our degree (see attached table)—, that they all be taken during the first year.
Correspondence of basic training credits | |||
Branch of knowledge | Subject or course of the plan | Corresponding subject of the Branch of knowledge | ECTS |
---|---|---|---|
Arts and Humanities | Expression techniques in a modern language | Modern Language | 6 |
Arts and Humanities | Cultural Anthropology | Anthropology | 6 |
Arts and Humanities | Introduction to art history | Art | 6 |
Arts and Humanities | Introduction to philosophical problems | Philosophy | 6 |
Arts and Humanities | Visual culture and contemporary artistic creation | Artistic expression | 6 |
Arts and Humanities | Introduction to history | History | 6 |

For this reason, the credits for basic subjects of the branch of those students who come from another degree in the same branch of knowledge, in this case from the Branch of Arts and Humanities, as well as the basic training subjects of the Degrees in Fine Arts offered by other Spanish faculties, will be automatically recognized. The credits for these basic subjects will also be recognized in the other two degrees contemplated in the White Book in the event that they offer them. Consequently, if the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of La Laguna were to teach the Degrees in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Assets and the Degree in Design, the technical committees for preparing these degrees must place all the basic training in the first year (modules FB1 and FB2), so that access from first to second year among the three degrees offered by the center will be automatic.
Up to 6 credits will be recognized for the student's participation in non-academic university activities (sports, cultural, representation, etc.), as provided for in art. 12.8 RD 1393/2007 of October 29, 2007, or for university training activities related to entrepreneurship and job placement, as provided for in art. 10.13 of the Regulations for Own Degree Titles of the University of La Laguna. These 6 credits, where applicable, would be equivalent to an optional subject. For more information, you can download the Regulations for the Recognition of Credits for Participation in University Activities in Official Degree Courses (modified in its Article 4 by the Governing Council in an ordinary session held on May 26, 2021)
The cases in which students can request recognition of credits to enter the degree are:
1) Students who change their degree within the ULL.
2) Transfers of records from other universities within the same degree or others.
3) Those who come from abroad.
4) Old titles that accredit the professionals.
Taking into account the adequacy between the skills and knowledge associated with the remaining subjects taken by the student and those provided for in the study plan or those that are transversal in nature, the credit transfer system proposed by the degree is as follows:
1) For students who change their degree within the ULL:
Students from the Arts and Humanities branch will be granted 60 credits of basic training subjects belonging to the same branch.
2) In the transfer of records from other universities within the same degree or others:
According to articles 6 and 13 of Royal Decree 1393/2007, all basic training credits will be recognized.
Credits will be recognised for those subjects whose assigned knowledge and skills correspond to the current study plan for the Fine Arts Degree at ULL, after having previously checked the academic record of origin, and in any case the first complete cycle of any public Fine Arts Degree from the Spanish State will be recognised, according to the agreement of the Conference of Deans.
3) For students coming from abroad with a Fine Arts Degree of 180 ECTS:
Having always compared the academic record of origin with the current study plan of the Degree in Fine Arts itself, the recognition of credits will be carried out in the specific compulsory subjects of the degree taught during the first years, taking into account their instrumental nature (such as drawing, photography, colour and volume subjects), as well as those of the different modules based on the content and skills assigned to them.
4) For old qualifications that professionals can prove:
Credit recognition will be made according to the regulated adaptation criteria.
