Internships
The external practices will be governed by the Regulations for external internships at the University of La Laguna; In addition, the Chemistry Section in its Internal Quality Assurance System includes the procedure “External Internship Management” which establishes the system to be applied in the management of External Practices.
The Coordinator of External Internships for the Degree will be the person in charge of searching for and selecting the companies and institutions with which to establish collaboration agreements. Once the agreements have been signed by the Rector (or the person he or she delegates) and a representative of the Company or Institution, the Coordinator of Internships must plan the internships and prepare the information material on the External Internships. He or she must then disseminate it according to the procedure “Public Information” . Once the coordinators of the Internships make public the call for places, the Title Committee must carry out the selection and assignment of Tutors. Before the students begin the External Internships, the Student Guidance actions must be carried out in the development of the Internships, according to the procedure “Student Orientation” . The review and improvement will be carried out annually with the procedure “Measurement, Analysis and Improvement”.
The evaluation of the External Practices will be carried out according to the evaluation criteria established in the Teaching Guide corresponding and the report prepared by the external tutor, who is part of the company/institution that has hosted the student.
The assignment of a company to carry out the External Internships will be made taking into account the following criteria:
– Firstly, priority will be given to students with disabilities so that they can apply for companies where all universal accessibility measures are ensured.
– Priority will then be given to students enrolled in an exchange programme so that they can carry out their internships without conflicting with their established exchange periods.
– Finally, priority will be given to students with the best academic record (for this purpose, only the grades for the 30 subjects of the first three years will be counted).
– Other aspects to keep in mind when carrying out external internships: consult section “7. Methodology and student workload” of this Teaching Guide.
