The Graduate Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Assets from the University of La Laguna offers generic training aimed at preparing for the exercise of professional activities.
The degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Assets offers training in the preservation of cultural assets for the benefit of present and future generations, in accordance with the guidelines set out in its professional code of ethics. Conservators and restorers contribute to the understanding of Cultural Assets by safeguarding their material integrity and ensuring respect for their cultural, historical, aesthetic and/or artistic significance.
The conservator/restorer intervenes directly on cultural assets and their surroundings. His/her mission is to examine and diagnose them, in their preventive and curative conservation, and in their restoration, as well as in the documentation of his/her interventions.
In addition, the conservator-restorer may develop conservation-restoration programmes and studies; provide advice and technical assistance for the conservation-restoration of cultural property; provide technical records on cultural property, expressly excluding any assessment of its commercial value; direct research related to conservation-restoration; disseminate information related to examinations, treatments and research and promote a better understanding of conservation-restoration.
