In relation to the competence related to the mastery of the foreign language English, this is included in the Curriculum as follows:

All subjects include at least 5% of training activities aimed at developing this competence. This commitment will be fulfilled through one or more of the following alternatives, which will be specified in the Teaching Guides for the corresponding subjects and/or courses: a) the teaching of part of the content in English by the subject's teaching staff, either through presentations in theoretical classes or through the use of English-language material in practical sessions (subject bibliography, opinion pieces and specialized press, consultation and manipulation of databases and statistical sources, etc.); b) the scheduling of activities to be carried out by students, such as summarized presentations in English of projects and the discussion of short readings provided by the subject's teaching staff; c) the inclusion of English-language texts among the subject's basic bibliographical references, etc. The Center's Quality Council will monitor this objective annually, consulting the respective Teaching Guides and, in particular, their corresponding schedules.

One of the 6 credits assigned to the compulsory subject "Research Techniques in Economics" is allocated to the development of this competence. The teaching staff of the Department of English Philology at the University of La Laguna will undertake the following activities: a) report writing and b) contextualized presentations. These activities aim to facilitate students in preparing an English summary of their Final Degree Project, as well as in presenting it (summarized) in English to the examining board.

Two of the 12 credits assigned to the External Internship are allocated to developing this competency. The English Philology Department faculty will undertake the following activities: a) preparing a CV and cover letter; b) preparing summaries/meeting minutes; and c) simulating job interviews, telephone conversations, and contextualized presentations.
