As established in the Regulations of the Subject "Final Degree Project" of the University of La Laguna (approved in the session of the Governing Council of 2/12/2015 and modified by the Governing Council on December 18, 2020), the TFG is an independent project undertaken by students under the supervision of one or two tutors. It involves the completion of a project, report, or study that demonstrates that they have acquired the skills required for the degree.
The Bachelor's Final Degree Project (FDP) in Philosophy consists of an essay or academic project that students will complete individually. This project must demonstrate that they have acquired the content, competencies, and skills for which the degree program qualifies them. To do so, they must critically analyze the chosen topic based on specific bibliography.
Regarding the requirements for enrolling in the TFG, you can do so when you have a maximum of 60 ECTS credits remaining during the regular enrollment period, or the requirements established in the verification report for each degree, and you have enrolled in all the core and compulsory credits remaining to complete the degree.
Basic rules of style, length and structure
The written work must be between 7,000 and 14,000 words long and conform to the following specifications:
- DIN-A4 page size
- Top, bottom, and right margins: 2.5 cm; left margin: 3.5 cm.
- Font type and size: Times New Roman (12 pt) or Arial (11 pt)
- Line spacing: 1.5
The cover must include:
- Name of the Degree in which the work is presented
- Academic year
- Title of the work
- Full name of the student
- Full name of the tutor
No drawings or decorations will appear on the cover.
The work must include at least the following sections:
- Introduction (delimitation of the problem under investigation)
- Background
- Current status
- Discussion and positioning
- Conclusion and open paths
- Cited bibliography
These sections should appear in the table of contents of the work and guide its development. If desired, they may have an explanatory subtitle.
The Final Project must comply with international scientific methodological standards. Special attention will be paid to clearly distinguishing between ideas or text fragments taken from other authors and those resulting from the student's own work. Plagiarism, the use of other people's words or ideas without acknowledgment, will result in disqualification.
Assignment of tutor and topic for the TFG
The Final Project must be completed under the supervision of a tutor. The tutor's role will consist of determining the specific topic of the project, explaining the characteristics of the Final Project to the students or group of students, guiding and supervising the project's development, ensuring compliance with the established objectives, issuing an evaluation of the Final Projects under supervision, and guiding and advising the student on the public presentation. However, the student is responsible for the Final Project and will make the decision whether or not to submit the project for presentation and defense, without needing the tutor's authorization. The tutor's name will only appear in the Final Project report if he or she has authorized its presentation.
Students must request the assignment of a tutor, indicating in order of preference a minimum of three from among those proposed. The center will be responsible for making a provisional assignment proposal, taking into account, to the extent possible, the preferences expressed by the students.
In order to be assigned a tutor to prepare their Final Project (FDP), students must submit an application to the Vice-Dean of the Philosophy Section within the established deadlines, stating, in order of preference, the names of the potential tutors under whose supervision they would like to prepare their Final Project (FDP).
Defense of the TFG
The Final Project must be defended and evaluated once it is confirmed that the student has passed all the remaining credits for the degree, except for those specific to the Final Project. Students must submit it to the Electronic Office on the scheduled dates and upload it to the virtual classroom for the subject.
The date and time of the defense act will be set according to the official calendar.
The TFG evaluation panels will be composed of three members and one substitute; the tutor of the evaluated work cannot be part of the panel.
The Final Project defense will last a maximum of one hour. Students will give a 15-minute presentation. This will be followed by questions from each member of the panel, with separate responses. Each presentation (question and answer) should not exceed five minutes.
Evaluation system
The evaluation system will take into account three aspects:
- Activities leading to the preparation of the TFG: 50% (Includes the 10 % evaluated in “Bibliographic search and annotation”).
- The tutor's report: 30% (includes the 10 % assessed in “Other activities”).
- The defense of the TFG before the evaluation board: 20%.
More detailed information can be found in the TFG teaching guide on the University's eguia portal.

To improve the development of the subject and facilitate the preparation of the Final Project Report and its public defense, specific criteria have been established, which can be found in the Subject Teaching Guide and the Final Project Regulations.
The presentation of the TFG reports will be done by telematic procedure, through the headquartersA copy of the report will also be submitted to the virtual classroom for the Final Degree Project (TFG) course. Both submissions will be made one week before the submission date.
