Admission and exit profile
The recommended entry profile corresponds to students who have graduated from the various modalities of high school, from a higher-level vocational training cycle, and all those who, through the various university access routes, are considering pursuing a degree in Geography and Spatial Planning. This profile also includes individuals with degrees from educational systems outside the European Higher Education Area without the need for their degrees to be recognized, subject to verification by the ULL that they demonstrate a level of education equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish university degrees.
In general, new students should possess, among their personal characteristics, an interest in direct observation of the territory and the analysis of social and environmental problems. They should demonstrate a willingness and sensitivity to interpret the natural and cultural environment, as well as the use that human groups make of the territory. They also require a critical spirit and a predisposition to multidisciplinary research.
Specifically, taking into account the characteristics and objectives of these studies, it would be desirable for future students pursuing this degree to possess the following qualities: a defined vocational training perspective in the field of knowledge of the spaces and regions of today's world and the expression of the contents of the multiple territorial variables (environmental, social, and economic) in their multiple and varied forms through the different modes of geographic expression (New Geographic Information Technologies). Therefore, it would be appropriate for them to demonstrate an interest in acquiring all the knowledge that would allow them to position themselves professionally in this field and, furthermore, to be able to maintain an attitude of analysis of the problems, reasoned criticism, and proactive will, from a scientific and professional perspective, in the face of the elements that make up the complex geographic reality of today's world.
Consequently, students wishing to participate in the training program articulated in this Bachelor's degree program should demonstrate an interest in current information, as demonstrated by their monitoring of the media, the dynamics of today's society, and a certain capacity for observation and analysis of current and distant events. Furthermore, students should have a strong command of oral and written language, an interest in New Information Technologies (ICTs), and a willingness to interact with the main social agents involved in the current organization of geographic space.
