Admission profile
In accordance with current regulations regarding university admission, students will be admitted to these programs by passing the University Entrance Exams, after completing any of the baccalaureate programs. If demand exceeds the number of places available (initially set at 80), admission will be based on the final grade achieved on the University Entrance Exams (EBAU).
For students who lack the Baccalaureate and the EBAU, the University of La Laguna offers the possibility of access through courses and entrance exams for people over 25, 40 and 45 years of age.
Considering the characteristics and objectives of these studies, it would be desirable for future students pursuing this degree to have the following qualities:
- Have a defined vocational training perspective in the field of knowledge of the contemporary world and the expression of current events in their multiple and varied facets through different communication modes and media.
- Interest in acquiring all the knowledge that would allow him to position himself professionally in this field and, furthermore, to be able to maintain an attitude of analysis and reasoned criticism, from a scientific and professional perspective, regarding current events.
- In particular, their keen interest in understanding how the media actually works and how to address current and future challenges in the field of journalism based on truly professional criteria should be considered essential.
- Consequently, students who wish to participate in the training project articulated in this Degree title should express interest:
- for the current information reported in the media coverage
- Due to the dynamics of today's society, having a certain capacity for observation and analysis of near and distant events
- for reading.
And furthermore, they must be individuals with a high command of oral and written language and who show a predisposition to interact with the main social agents, protagonists of social discourse in all its manifestations (politics, economics, culture, science, sports, among others).
Graduation profile
- Editor of journalistic information in any type of media
Journalism professional in any traditional or electronic media format who develops their activity through genres, creating journalistic content. This includes the tasks of an editor, reporter, presenter, and director of one or more of these, including the design, writing, and execution of scripts for audiovisual or multimedia reports and documentaries.
- Editor or person responsible for press or institutional communication
A professional from a press or communications office of a public or private institution to coordinate or execute any informational or communication work required by the entity.
- Researcher, teacher and communication consultant
Specialist in research and analysis of communication phenomena and processes for all types of public and private organizations, qualified for advisory, consulting, and mediation work. He teaches non-university courses in communication and new information and communication technologies.
- Portal manager and content editor
Professional in writing and editing general work for publishing companies or creators of cultural and informational productions. Specializes in the processing, management, and editing of all types of content, preferably using digital systems.
- Online virtual community manager, Community manager
Specialist in the design and execution of communication strategies to position a brand online. Qualified professional to create and manage digital content and to energize and moderate a brand's relationship with its audiences through social media and new Web 2.0 communication channels.
