The Degree has the necessary coordination structures to ensure that it is organized and developed appropriately. In the Commissions of the corresponding Center/Section/Degree, and through periodic meetings, the appropriate operating mechanisms are established for the analysis of the development of the Degree in Chemistry.
Both horizontal and vertical coordination, in accordance with the provisions of section 5.1.11 of the Verification Report, is carried out each academic year and quarter according to the following structure:
- Degree Coordinator (Deputy Dean of Degree)
- Module Coordinator (Teacher of one of the subjects that make up the module)
- Course Coordinator (Deputy Dean of the Degree)
- Subject coordinator (Professor who teaches all or part of the subject)
- Internship Coordinator
- Coordinator of Final Degree Project

This coordination will be carried out by the Vice-Dean of Chemistry. In addition to the functions listed in the SGIC of the Degree in section 9.1.2 of this report, we could include the following:
- Preparation of the proposal for theory and practice groups by subject and assignment of classrooms
- Preparation of proposed class schedule and exam dates
- Develop mobility promotion activities and obtain information on the development and results of mobility programs
- Conduct a continuous review of the teaching-learning process to update and improve the degree training program.
- To carry out an in-depth analysis of possible overlaps or deficiencies that may be detected in the different programmes of subjects that may be related to each other, in order to correct these situations so that the Study Plan forms a compact and homogeneous whole.
- Monitor the correspondence between the different subjects and the competencies of the degree.
- Submit suggestions according to procedure PR-15 “Management of Deviations, Incidents, Complaints and Suggestions.
He/she is appointed by the person responsible for the Dean's Office at the proposal of the different Departments involved in the module; the appointment must be approved by the Faculty Board.
Their functions will focus on checking that the different aspects listed below correspond to those raised in the Graduate Report in Chemistry:
- Teaching-learning methodology of the module
- Module evaluation criteria
- Relationship between the generic and specific skills that the student must acquire with the module as well as the learning outcome
- Notify the subject coordinators of any anomaly detected
- Call a meeting of the module's subject coordinators to review the academic year.
- Submit suggestions according to procedure PR-15 “Management of Deviations, Incidents, Complaints and Suggestions.
This is the point of reference for all subject coordinators of the same course and its main objective is to coordinate the teaching planning of the course. In order to optimize coordination, the coordination of each course will be carried out by the Vice Dean of Chemistry. Among its functions are:
- Convene and moderate meetings with subject coordinators, centralizing their contributions.
- Analyze, together with the subject coordinators, the horizontal and vertical contents of the subjects, detecting duplications and paying special attention to the sequentiality of said contents.
- Harmonize the distribution of the course workload: theory, problems, laboratories, seminars, field practices, visits, personal work, etc.
- To be aware of and disseminate among the subject coordinators the planning of all assessment tests (controls, midterms and finals), proposing modifications, if necessary, for an adequate distribution.
- Study the course schedules with the aim of making them as coherent as possible, informing the Degree Coordinator of any malfunction that may be detected.
- Ensure that the assignment of students to the different groups for seminars, practical sessions, tutorials, etc. makes it possible for students in that course to attend the different activities of the different subjects.
- Call a meeting to review the academic year.
- Submit suggestions according to procedure PR-15 “Management of Deviations, Incidents, Complaints and Suggestions.
He/she is responsible for the organisational aspects of the theoretical and practical groups of the subject. He/she is the point of contact for the management of any malfunction that may occur during the course, informing the Department Director and/or Vice-Dean of the Degree in Chemistry. He/she is also responsible for communicating to the Course Coordinator any aspect related to the organisation of the subject: changes in timetables, exam dates, etc.
The appointment of these coordinators must be previously approved by the Department Councils of the Departments involved in the subject.
The coordinator may delegate part of his/her task to the rest of the teaching staff of the subject (for example, if the Department deems it appropriate, it may create the figure of an internship coordinator), but he/she will be responsible for the subject before the Course Coordinator and the Faculty Board.
Its functions are:
- Convene and moderate meetings with the subject's teaching team, centralizing their contributions.
- Establish the work procedure to follow: distribution of tasks and mode of operation.
- Agree with the rest of the teaching team on the content, the preparation and/or revision of the teaching material, the tests to be carried out, the evaluation criteria for the subject and the organisation of the practice groups, if any.
- Ensure that the program taught is common to all theory groups.
- Ensure that there is no redundancy or gaps in the syllabus due to a lack of coordination with other subjects. If this lack of coordination is detected, alert the Degree Coordinator.
- Coordinate theory, seminars, practices... Adapt the content and timing of the different activities to the theory.
- Ensure that the content, tools used, level of demand and correction criteria of the practices are common in
all practice groups. - Prepare the Teaching Guide for the subject
- Create seminar, practical, and tutorial groups of a uniform size and assign students to these groups. This task must be carried out in coordination with the rest of the subject coordinators under the supervision of the Course Coordinator.
- Track the publication of notes and signing of minutes.
- Call the rest of the teaching staff of the subject to a meeting to review the academic year.
