Internships in companies, organizations, and institutions are mandatory for official degrees offered at the University of La Laguna and provide students with exposure to real-life situations, complementing their training with the reality of the working world.
Internships are conceived as a privileged space for applying the knowledge acquired throughout their studies and for developing the skills students are expected to develop. They are carried out in centers and entities providing social services, as well as in various public and private organizations where professional functions specific to sociology are carried out.
During these sessions, the study of the different realities and problems addressed by sociology will be proposed, as well as an analysis of society's response to each of them. They will also provide an insight into the various spaces in which sociology can be developed as a professional.
In this direct contact with the professional reality of Sociology, two key moments can be distinguished. The first allows students a cognitive and attitudinal approach to the functions, roles, and skills of sociologists, as well as to the different social realities in which they operate, under the direct supervision of a professional. The second phase involves direct incorporation and participation in an organization or program, providing each student with the resources and skills necessary for independent professional intervention, creating spaces for reflection and action as a preliminary step toward professional integration.
The Sociology Degree's External Internship course is annual and takes place in the 4th year, throughout the first and second semesters.
