The Degree in Marine Technologies qualifies for the professional title of 2nd Class Engineer Officer (Second Engineer Officer of the Merchant Navy), a title regulated Nationally and Internationally by the International Maritime Organization in its STCW code in the Machinery section, A-III.
Once the student has graduated in Marine Technologies, he or she will have direct access to the Master's degree linked to the profession of Chief Engineer of the Merchant Navy (Annex V Resolution of the University Council, January 20, 2016), implemented in 2021.
There are no specific entrance exams, however, it is necessary (to practice the profession) to pass a medical examination (see articles 5 to 19 of RD 973/2009, of June 12 - BOE July 2).
The Bachelor's Degree in Marine Technologies is included in the Engineering and Architecture Branch of University Studies, and is therefore primarily designed to accommodate graduates of the Baccalaureate in Science and Technology, as well as those enrolled in the corresponding Higher Vocational Training Courses related to the degree.
Once qualified as a Merchant Navy Engineer Officer, the Graduate in Marine Technologies will have the following responsibilities:

The Graduate in Marine Technologies, in addition to the duties already mentioned, once qualified as an Engineer Officer and/or Electrotechnical Officer (soon), performs his/her duties in optimizing the operation, repair, maintenance, installation, assembly and exploitation of energy, electrical and electronic installations, mechanical equipment and automation processes, mainly for ships, although statistically he/she is also linked to industrial installations, both maritime (platforms, terminals, etc.) and terrestrial (thermal power plants, hotels, etc.).
The Graduate in Marine Technologies will be qualified, among others, to perform functions in:
Today, we can speak of the great employability possibilities through both the academic degree (Degree in Nautical Science and Maritime Transport) and the professional title of 2nd Class Bridge Officer (Merchant Navy Pilot).
