Support and guidance

Each academic year, ULL centres implement Guidance and Tutorial Action Plans (POAT) to be developed in their degrees to provide students with support and guidance systems once they have enrolled.

The training activities included in the POAT address various topics through which it is intended to facilitate the students' academic-professional decision-making at their different stages (reception and integration into the centre and the university, guidance throughout the degree and for their incorporation into the labour market), which will allow them to successfully complete the degree and adapt to new demands: autonomous learning strategies, teamwork, improving academic performance results, resolving difficulties, information and advice on external internships and final degree project, guidance on existing mobility programmes, demands and characteristics of the labour market, etc.

By being enrolled at ULL, students of the degree can participate in the POAT of their center, benefiting from:

  • The training and information activities provided throughout the degree.
  • Advice from your tutor/teacher, who will support you in your intellectual, academic and professional concerns.
  • Its recognition in ECTS credits – 1 per academic year – as set out in the Regulations for the Recognition of Credits for Participation in University Activities in Official Degree Courses.

The Guidance and Tutorial Action Plan (POAT) of the Nautical, Machinery and Naval Radioelectronics Section, which includes the Degree in Marine Technologies, is part of the requirements for improving the quality of teaching provided for in the Internal Quality Assurance System (SGIC) of the School.

Quality Assurance is an essential objective of university policy and an axis around which other fundamental good practice criteria are articulated for the verification and accreditation of official teaching, in accordance with the provisions of the construction of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). In this context, student guidance and tutoring become a necessity and a key element of quality.

The Section's POAT is conceived as a sustained effort with a broad time perspective. The reason that justifies a plan of this nature is the increasing knowledge that exists about the relationship that exists between, on the one hand, student learning and results (along with the level of satisfaction of teachers with their performance) and, on the other, guidance, quality tutorial action and adequate information for students.

The POAT is coordinated in the Section by Maria del Cristo Adrian de Ganzo  and joins the POAT Committee of the Higher Polytechnic School of Engineering.
