Tourism is much more than an economic activity. It encompasses the analysis, management, and planning of businesses and tourist destinations; therefore, it is essential to integrate the various disciplines that approach it from different and complementary perspectives.

Tourism is our country's main industry and the driving force of the Canary Islands' economy. Therefore, it is vital to have qualified professionals capable of bringing competitiveness to this constantly changing industry, where quality, competitiveness, and sustainability are increasingly required.

As this is a human-resource-intensive activity, the qualification and professionalization of the workforce is a priority for developing a competitive product, adapted to the needs of an increasingly demanding demand for quality parameters.

Given the characteristics and objectives of these programs, successful students must demonstrate a flair for public relations and language learning skills, starting with at least an intermediate level of English and a basic level of German. Students must value respect for the conservation of cultural and natural heritage, possess social and professional communication skills, and be able to work in a team.

Forecasts point to strong growth in tourism, which will become one of the main drivers of the global economy in the 21st century, with high growth rates. The most notable professional areas are:

  • Accommodation.
  • Restoration.
  • Intermediation of tourist services.
