Competencies

Competencies are the set of knowledge, skills, and attitudes to be acquired by students throughout the degree, aimed at preparing them for professional activities.

The objectives of the Bachelor's Degree in Tourism detailed below are included in the White Book on the Bachelor's Degree in Tourism. These objectives must be defined based on the characteristics and evolving conditions of the activity carried out in a context of rapid transformation, demands for quality, competitiveness, sustainability, and growing internationalization. Within this framework, the objectives of higher education in Tourism are as follows:

  1. Respond to existing training needs in the sector, facilitating knowledge of multidisciplinary skills and tools useful for decision-making in the current tourism context.
  2. To provide those entering the degree with specific specialization profiles that address both the needs of business management and the management of natural and cultural resources, as well as other factors useful for the development of tourism or its products.
  3. To offer advanced training that allows students to continue their education in any area of specialization required for the tourism sector, via postgraduate/master's and/or doctoral degrees.
  4. Address essential aspects for developing competitive advantages over competing or collaborating products and destinations.

The Tourism Graduate must possess the following skills upon completion of his or her studies:

  7. Recognize the main tourism agents.
  8. Evaluate tourism potential and prospective analysis of its exploitation.
  9. Analyze, synthesize, and critically summarize the economic and heritage information of tourism organizations.
  10. Manage financial resources.
  11. Define business objectives, strategies and policies.
  12. Direct and manage different types of tourism organizations.
  13. Manage communication techniques.
  14. Understand the legal framework that regulates tourism activities.
  15. Working in English as a foreign language.
