Her research has been focused on the development and application of new drug delivery biomaterials for tissue regeneration. Her MSc and PhD at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) were focused on biomaterials’ synthesis and characterization for local drug delivery in bone regeneration while her initial three years as postdoctoral researcher at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (NY, USA) were more dedicated to the tissue engineering field devoted to understand the role of cell crosstalk in tissue homeostasis and regeneration. In a following step, as associate researcher at University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), she worked on a multidisciplinary environment to develop functional biomaterials for local drug delivery in musculoskeletal diseases. Her current research at University of La Laguna (Spain) is focused on the development of smart biomaterials able to modulate tissue homeostasis to restore healthy tissue environment.
