Alberto Ardèvol-Abreu: I studied Information Science in the University of La Laguna and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. My interests for the influence of media in the perception of ethnic minorities and of countries facing humanitarian crises let me to do a doctorate in communication, which I completed in 2013. During my predoctoral time I was able to work in Austin (Texas University) with Maxwell McCombs, known as the ‘Father of one of the main theories on effects of mass media communication (Agenda-Setting theory)’. My current research interests are focused in the new communication media and the political communication, in particular with relation to the influence of media in civic and democratic life. I have been working as professor and researcher since 2012 in the universities of Viena and La Laguna, and as senior researcher of the Viera and Clavijo Program since 2019 in the field of basic psychology of the cognitive, social and organizational psychology department.
