Lidia Pereira Saavedra holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of La Laguna, and a postgraduate degree in accounting and auditing from the University of Alcalá de Henares in 1999.
She is a career civil servant in the senior corps of financial and tax administrators and has held various positions and posts in the autonomous community, such as General Comptroller of the Canary Islands and Island Director of Human Resources and Legal Advice at the Island Council of Tenerife.
She served as manager of the University of La Laguna between 2015 and 2019, covering economic, financial, and budgetary management, personnel management, and infrastructure maintenance, renovation, and replacement. During this period, she was also appointed a member of the Executive Committee of the Sectoral Council of Managers of Spanish Universities.
Her other notable positions include head of service for the control of European funds, secretary general of the Canary Islands Employment Service, and director of Human Resources for the Tenerife Island Council.
