Biography

Juan Antonio García García holds a PhD in Law from the University of La Laguna and is a professor in the Department of Legal Disciplines for Civil Law. He has taught Civil Law at the University of La Laguna, primarily in the Bachelor's Degree in Law and then in the Bachelor's Degree in Law, as well as in various postgraduate and Master's courses at the University of La Laguna, for more than 30 years.

To date, she has been awarded two six-year research grants and, alongside Professor Elena Sánchez Jordán, has been the IP of two nationally-run research projects. Both focused on the challenges of the Property Registry and new technologies, the latter of which (Current Challenges of the Property Registry: Data Protection and Blockchain) is still in progress.

His work has focused primarily on the boundaries between civil law and administrative law (Reserva de Ley y Derecho Civil, Tecnos 2005; urban planning and civil law, especially the registry aspects of the relationship between both sectors of the legal system), as well as primarily on property law (obligations and contracts, real rights, and inheritance law). His most recent works include his monographs on the Civil Legal Regime of Cryptoassets (Colex 2022); The Value of Real Estate Subject to Mortgage Collateral (Atelier 2022); and The Destination and Use of Real Estate (Aranzadi 2019).
