This Center was created in 1981 through an agreement between the University of La Laguna and the European Commission, and is affiliated with the University of La Laguna through its Chair of Public and Private International Law at the Faculty of Law. Under this agreement, the European Documentation Center is the depository of official European Union publications sent free of charge by the European Commission and has free access to community databases. In return, the ULL undertakes to preserve, catalog, and index this documentation in order to make it accessible to the entire university community and the general public. It is currently part of: European Networks: European Documentation Centers and Europe Direct; the Spanish Network of EDC Centers in Spain. The European Documentation Center is public. Anyone from the university community or outside of it can consult its documentary and bibliographic collections and access external resources. The objective of the European Documentation Centers is to respond to the needs of students, researchers, and citizens by making information about the European Union and its policies accessible.
