Dr. Nicholas Peppas is a professor at the University of Texas at Austin, with affiliations in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmacy, Pediatrics, and Surgery, and director of the Institute for Biomaterials, Drug Delivery, and Regenerative Medicine. He is known not only for his tremendous contributions to the advancement of science, but also for his passion for supporting, training, and mentoring young researchers throughout their careers.
He has received more than 180 international awards and is a pioneer in bionanomaterials, drug delivery and release, polymer physics, and bionanotechnology. He is the co-author of more than 1,800 articles (h-index of 216 and 224,601 citations), 41 books, and 54 patents. He has also spoken at conferences and conventions in 34 countries, giving more than 1,600 presentations.
It is worth noting that he has been a visiting professor at 14 universities in 11 countries, taught more than 5,600 students, 125 of whom completed their doctoral theses with him, and collaborated with more than 1,000 scientists worldwide. He also holds 14 honorary doctorates from around the world. His sponsor at the ceremony will be Edgar Pérez Herrero.
