Master's Degree in Management of Marine Technologies
The general purpose of this Master's Degree in Management in Marine Technologies is the acquisition of knowledge of the different approaches to research methodologies in the field of Maritime Technologies (both quantitative and qualitative in nature), the ability to formulate a relevant research problem and design a coherent and appropriate methodology for it.
Master's degree linked to the regulated profession of Chief Engineer of the Merchant Navy, according to Royal Decree 973/2009, of June 12, which regulates the professional qualifications of the merchant navy (BOE of July 2, 2009).

- The main objectives of the Master in Management in Marine Technologies are: Research in Management in Marine Technologies, quantitative and qualitative methodological approaches, tools and techniques for the collection and analysis of data in Maritime research, elements and processes of a research design in the Maritime field and, finally, developing the knowledge necessary to interpret research results.
In accordance with the provisions of article 18 of Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28, which establishes the organization of university education and the procedure for ensuring its quality, in order to access official master's degrees it will be necessary to be in possession of an official Spanish university degree, or, where appropriate, have another University Master's degree, or another issued by a higher education institution in a country of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) that enables access to Master's studies in that country.
Likewise, those with degrees from educational systems outside the EHEA may access the programme without the need for their degrees to be recognised, subject to verification by the university that these certify a level of training equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish university degrees and that they entitle the applicant to access postgraduate studies in the country that issued the degree. Access via this route will not, under any circumstances, imply the recognition of the previous degree held by the interested party, nor its recognition for any purpose other than to undertake Master's studies.
As this is a qualification that gives access to the professional title of Chief Engineer of the Merchant Navy, the conditions for access to the master's degree must comply with the provisions of the Resolution of the General Secretariat of Universities, dated 20 January 2016 (BOE of 23 June) by which the Agreement of the Council of Universities is published, which establishes recommendations for the proposal by universities of application reports for official degrees in the fields of Nautical Science and Maritime Transport, Marine Technologies, Marine Electrotechnology and Naval Radioelectronics. In accordance with the provisions of section 4.2 of Annex V of the aforementioned Resolution, relating to official degrees linked to the profession of Chief Engineer of the Merchant Navy, the conditions for access to the Master's Degree in Management in Marine Technologies are as follows:
- In order to access the Master's degree linked to the profession of Chief Engineer of the Merchant Navy, the interested person must have previously acquired the skills listed in section 3 of Annex II of this Agreement establishing the recommendations for the verification of official university degrees linked to the exercise of the profession of Engineer Officer of the Merchant Navy, and their training must be in accordance with that established in section 5 of the aforementioned Annex II.
- Likewise, access to the Master's degree will be permitted when the interested person's degree, even if it does not cover all the specific subjects of the degree linked to the profession of Merchant Navy Engine Officer, complies with the proposed blocks and competencies in accordance with Annex II of the aforementioned Agreement of the Council of Universities.
- Likewise, those who are in possession of any other degree may access this Master's degree, without prejudice to the establishment of any prior training supplements that are deemed necessary in this case.

- From a professional point of view, this master's degree allows you to have the following powers once you have been qualified as an Engine Officer of the Merchant Navy:
- 1. Serve as an engineer officer or first engineer officer on merchant ships without power limitations.
- 2. Serve as chief engineer (+24 months) or first officer (+12 months) on merchant vessels of 3,000 kW or more.
- 3. Professionally carry out all activities related to their maritime profession
