Guidance and tutoring
The Academic Committee of the Degree will provide constant support to the enrolled students, whose degree supervision will be assumed by the master's coordination. We refer to a follow-up and coordination of the supervision processes in the different areas of tutorial commitment:
At the Institutional level within the Center's Tutorial Action Plan.
At Title level:
- The teaching supervision of each of the subjects,
- Academic supervision and professional supervision of external internships,
- Supervision of the Master's Final Project.
The Master's Coordination will jointly carry out all coordination actions in order to achieve the necessary coherence to support students throughout their training process, where individualized work must have the joint responsibility of all parties involved in their training. It will organize group meetings with tutors at different times during the training process.
Internships are regulated at our university by the Regulations for the Management of Internships for Students at the University of La Laguna. The aspects that are extracted from this regulation of interest to the student's support are above all the following:
«1. Designate and inform the center responsible for the qualification of the persons who will be in charge of acting as tutors for the internship, who must be professionals from the staff of the company, institution or organization.
2. The tutors external to the ULL, in coordination with the academic tutors of the degree, will assign the tasks to be carried out by the students, will assist them in whatever is necessary for the development of the activities to be carried out, will provide the necessary material means for the development of the practices and will participate in the evaluation of their use in the terms pre-established for the same.
3. Tutors external to the degree must carry out the evaluation of the performance of the students under their charge, as well as communicate the results of said evaluation to the academic tutor.
4. Comply with the programming of training activities previously agreed with the University and established in the Teaching Guide that must appear as an Annex to the Agreement or Convention signed with the ULL.
For the effective application of these points of the regulations, the following is determined for the Master:
- The academic committee will be responsible for disseminating the list of centres hosting internships so that students can choose the centres of their preference. The committee will determine the allocation of centres, taking into account the evaluation of the file submitted by the students in the pre-registration phase in the event of a conflict of interest. Thus, they will be assigned a company or institution with which an agreement has previously been signed for the completion of the internship. The academic tutor and the external tutor-supervisor (professional who works at the collaborating centre for the internship) will be in charge of the internship supervision.
- The academic tutor for the internship will be a university professor from the Master's degree with assigned teaching in the subject of external internships. His/her main function will be to support the training process of the students assigned to supervise the internships.
- The academic committee of the master's degree will be responsible for assigning a tutor-academic internship teacher to the corresponding students in accordance with their teaching load in the subject.
- The academic tutor will contact the contracted centres through the corresponding external tutor-supervisor, and will guide the students individually through tutorials during the process and in the completion of the internship report. He/she will participate in the initial and final internship seminar with all the students and academic tutors involved in the internship in order to exchange experiences.
- The external tutor is the professional who works in the internship centres through agreements established with the Master's. The academic tutor and the external tutor will design the individual internship plan for the students, which is governed by the teaching guide for the subject.
- As regards the Master's Thesis, a list of thematic areas for the Master's Thesis will be available at the beginning of the course. The Master's Committee will draw up the list of topics in coordination with the teaching staff supervising the Master's Thesis, who may supervise up to two projects. Students may choose one of the proposed topics and may develop their validation phase during the external internship period, so coordination is required between the academic supervision of the internship and the supervision of the Master's Thesis. The Master's Thesis is governed by the Regulations for Official Master's Degree Courses at the ULL (BOC No. 91, of 9 May 2012).
- In addition to the activities related to the reception of new students and their supervision throughout the training process and the Tutorial Action system of the Center, various support and guidance activities are organized: activities to support teaching and professional guidance in the form of talks, seminars, visits, conference cycles, workshops, etc.
- The library of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the ULL also organizes orientation, information, search, management and handling of bibliographic resources activities throughout the first semester.
- In addition, orientation activities will be carried out to take advantage of the R&D&I resources offered by universities, such as visits to technology centres, information on research groups, documentation centres, etc.
