Ciclo de conferencias “Distinguished Lectures”

El Instituto Universitario de Bio-Orgánica Antonio González tiene el placer de anunciar una edición especial de su ciclo de conferencias “Distinguished Lectures” 2025, que contará con la participación de dos destacados científicos de la Universidad Médica de Varsovia: la Dra. Barbara Żyżyńska-Granica, quien presentará la conferencia titulada “Natural compounds in the prevention of autoimmune diseases” y el Prof. Sebastian Granica, quien impartirá la charla titulada “Postbiotic metabolites of plant origin”.

El evento se celebrará en el Salón de Actos del IUBO-AG el día 12 de mayo a las 11:00h. La Dra. Barbara Żyżyńska- Granica obtuvo su doctorado en 2015 en la Universidad Médica de Varsovia, donde inició su carrera científica. Ha realizado estancias de investigación en Portugal, Creta y Tenerife, acumulando una vasta experiencia en técnicas como cultivo celular in vitro, PCR en tiempo real, western blot, citometría de flujo y ELISA. Desde 2019, es docente e investigadora en el Departamento de Bioquímica de dicha universidad. Su investigación se enfoca en células cancerígenas y el desarrollo de nuevos tratamientos para enfermedades autoinmunes como la artritis reumatoide. Ha liderado proyectos financiados por el Centro Nacional de Ciencia de Polonia y actualmente dirige una investigación sobre polifenoles naturales con potencial inmunomodulador.

El Prof. Sebastian Granica es un joven científico de destacada trayectoria, obtuvo su doctorado en 2014 y su habilitación tan solo dos años después. Desde 2021 ostenta el título de profesor. Ha publicado cerca de 130 artículos científicos y ha sido investigador principal en proyectos respaldados por el Centro Nacional de Ciencia y el Ministerio de Ciencia y Educación Superior de Polonia. Fue distinguido por la Fundación para la Ciencia Polaca en 2014 y recibió una prestigiosa beca para jóvenes científicos en 2015. Su actividad científica incluye estancias en Alemania, Italia, Austria, Ucrania y la República Checa, así como colaboraciones con centros de investigación tanto nacionales como internacionales. Sus intereses se centran en el análisis fitoquímico de materiales vegetales, identificación de compuestos y el desarrollo de métodos analíticos para metabolitos secundarios en plantas y materiales biológicos.

The Instituto Universitario de Bio-Orgánica Antonio González is pleased to announce a special edition of its 2025 “Distinguished Lectures” series, featuring two prominent scientists from the Medical University of Warsaw: Dr. Barbara Żyżyńska-Granica, who will present the lecture titled “Natural compounds in the prevention of autoimmune diseases,” and Prof. Sebastian Granica, who will deliver the talk titled “Postbiotic metabolites of plant origin”.

The event will take place in the Lecture Hall of IUBO-AG on May 12th at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Barbara Żyżyńska-Granica earned her Ph.D. in 2015 from the Medical University of Warsaw, where she began her scientific career. She has carried out research stays in Portugal, Crete, and Tenerife, gaining extensive experience in techniques such as in vitro cell culture, real-time PCR, western blot, flow cytometry, and ELISA. Since 2019, she has been a lecturer and researcher at the university’s Department of Biochemistry. Her research focuses on cancer cells and the development of new treatments for autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. She has led projects funded by the National Science Centre of Poland and is currently heading a study on natural polyphenols with immunomodulatory potential.

Prof. Sebastian Granica is a young scientist with an outstanding career. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2014 and completed his habilitation just two years later. Since 2021, he has held the title of professor. He has published nearly 130 scientific articles and has been the principal investigator of projects supported by the National Science Centre and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland. He was recognized by the Foundation for Polish Science in 2014 and received a prestigious scholarship for young scientists in 2015. His scientific work includes research stays in Germany, Italy, Austria, Ukraine, and the Czech Republic, as well as collaborations with both national and international research centers. His interests focus on phytochemical analysis of plant materials, compound identification, and the development of analytical methods for secondary metabolites in plants and biological materials.
