Much space and time in the consideration of geopolitics and in the teaching of geopolitics is taken up by classical geopolitics. The founders and their theories, such as Mahan, Mackinder, Haushofer, Spykman, continue to define what we think about geopolitics and how we see the world through the lens of geopolitics. A chance to abandon this paradigm of thinking about the world, that is, to abandon classical geopolitics as a tool that is rather primitive because it depends on the assumption of the primacy of geographical determinism, is critical geopolitics. Critical studies of geopolitics, which emphasise methods such as discourse analysis, reveal the depth and multidimensionality, the multifaceted nature of geopolitics. At the same time, they reveal geopolitical visions, groups, peoples whose voices are suppressed by hegemonic visions that seek to construct discursive spheres of influence and dependency. Demonstrating the richness of the output and methods and researchers of critical geopolitics will be the focus of the lecture, which will have the additional task of showing how geopolitics is currently spoken and written about and depicted in the perspective of popular geopolitics.
Se realizará una exposición del tema objeto del seminario en lengua inglesa seguido de un turno de preguntas y otro de debate.
Dirigido a cualquier persona interesada en la temática propuesta.
